Conversations With The Chancellor

On July 2, 2008, Antioch University Chancellor Toni Murdock returns to the airwaves on the University owned radio station, WYSO. In honor of this radio program titled, “Conversations With The Chancellor,” the Antioch Papers presents the “Antioch University’ Communications Plan” written in February 2008. One of the main goals of the plan is “to communicate carefully selected messages key” regarding “the shuttering of the College.” Read the plan, listen to the Chancellor’s conversation and see if you can follow the script WYSO show host Jackie Mayer is following.

During the failed negotiations between the AC3 and Antioch University over College independence, the Antioch University Finance Committee stated that the Antioch University Board of Trustees “strongly feels” that WYSO has “no clear and necessary educational function.” This statement may have placed WYSO in some jeopardy since the station is licensed by the FCC as a noncommercial educational broadcaster.

As a sneak preview of things to come during the Independence Day holiday, the Antioch Papers presents an excerpt of a March 2008 Finance Committee Meeting about WYSO and Antioch College independence.
